PC2100 DDR SDRAM chip

PC2100 DDR is the lowest transfer rate in DDR SDRAM chips. It has a frequency of 133MHz, and is also known as DDR266, a measurement of its front side bus (FSB).

Memory may also be considered by its DIMM: dual in-line memory module. PC2100 DDR SDRAM may be found as 172-pin MicroDIMM, 182-pin DIMM, and 200-pin SO-DIMM.

RAM must be compatible with the motherboard on the computer, however in some situations the chips may be "underclocked" or "overclocked" as a method of enabling them to work with the motherboard, or even with each other if the chips are different speeds. Aside from PC2100, other transfer speeds include:

• PC1600 DDR (100MHz)
• PC2700 DDR (166MHz)
• PC3200 DDR (200MHz)

Please note: a laptop will typically require memory designed specifically for it, while standard memory is generally made for use on a desktop PC.
