PC2700 DDR SDRAM chip

PC2700 DDR is the lowest transfer rate in DDR SDRAM chips. It has a frequency of 166MHz, and is also known as DDR333, a measurement of its front side bus (FSB).

Memory may also be classified by its DIMM, short for: dual in-line memory module. PC2700 DDR SDRAM exists as 200-pin SO-DIMM, 182-pin DIMM, and 172-pin MicroDIMM.

RAM must be compatible with the motherboard on the computer, however in some situations the chips may be "underclocked" or "overclocked" as a method of enabling them to work with the motherboard, or even with each other if the chips are different speeds. Aside from PC2700, other transfer speeds include:

• PC1600 DDR (100MHz)
• PC2100 DDR (133MHz)
• PC3200 DDR (200MHz)

Please note: a laptop will typically require memory designed specifically for it, while standard memory is generally made for use on a desktop PC.
